Salvation Army Gives Homeless a Place to Warm Up in Norfolk, VA

The Salvation army is keeping their doors open longer to make sure no one has to spend the night out in the cold.

“Part of our job is to help. This is a ministry for me.” Henry McNair volunteered to serve hot meals Saturday morning at the “Hope Shelter” for the homeless. If the snowy and icy conditions prevail, the Salvation Army is prepared to extend hours.

Larry Monroe says he lives on the streets, and he was thrilled to have the chance to warm up. “They try to send you out with some type of hope. So far I've been blessed. I hope to be getting housing hopefully through them."
