JENNIFER HUDSON AND SISTER JULIA KING HOST SCHOOL SUPPLY GIVEAWAY IN CHICAGO

Chicago native, Jennifer Hudson and her sister Julia King held the third annual Hatch Day Celebration this week at The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in South Side neighborhood of Chicago.

The Oscar and Grammy winner hosted this school supply giveaway event for low-income children and families in honor of Hudson’s late nephew Julian. This is the second year the giveaway has been held at the Kroc Center.

An estimated 5,000 children K-12th grade lined up to meet the actress/singer and walked away with supplies for the upcoming academic year. The back-to-school event was one of hundreds hosted by The Salvation Army nationwide to meet the needs of low-income children and ease the financial burden for parents. Essential school supplies included backpacks, notebooks, pens and pencils.
