A 2013 study from BMC Public Health revealed that volunteers benefit from reduced rates of depression, an increased sense of life satisfaction and well being, and a 22 perfect reduction in the risk of dying.
Additionally, regularly engaging in as little as an hour of work once a month just makes you feel good; study participants benefited from increased social contact and reduced feelings of loneliness.
